What
to Expect When You’re Training
So you’re
interested in mediation training, but you’re not sure what
to expect. What will you learn? How are the classes conducted? Is
there any FUN involved?
Fear not. Mediation training at IMS is both intensive and interesting,
both an asset and an amusement. Here’s what to expect.
- Up
Close and Personal: Training at IMS is conducted by our
executive director, Mike Thompson, and our regional coordinators.
These are people who have more than a half-century of combined
mediation experience, so they can answer any question and help
you understand any situation. Classes are small (about 12 participants
per session), so it’s easy to work one-on-one with the trainers.
- Hands
On and Helpful: While training, you won’t just
sit in a room and listen to a lecture. There is some lecture time
(along with a very comprehensive manual that covers all the material
presented), but there are also role plays, activities, and ample
time for questions and feedback. In addition, everyone has multiple
opportunities to practice their new mediation skills, and after
the training is over, participants are welcome to observe and
co-mediate real cases with IMS staff members.
- Lively
and Lip-Smacking Good: Our training consistently receives
high ratings from our participants for the relaxed atmosphere,
the interesting activities, the friendly trainers, and the delicious
food. We offer breakfast, lunch, and snacks as part of each day’s
session, and much of the food is homemade. Special dietary needs
and preferences are always accommodated.
If this sounds
like a positive and valuable experience, you’re right; it
is. If you’d like to learn more about attending an IMS mediation
training, just go to the upcoming events
page on our site to register, or call us at (515) 331-8081 for dates
and details. See you in the classroom! |
